WECG
embracing and engaging our community.
West Eleventh Community Group (WECG) was created by the young adults of MSDA, and community is what we’re about: sharing our hearts and stories, being honest and vulnerable, and supporting each other.
Sometimes we get caught up in church talk—saying things we hear everyone else say. At WECG, our goal isn’t perfection, but living honestly and with grace, lifting each other up when we need it. We might laugh over a gingerbread house decorating competition or pray over someone who’s received hard news.
Scripture counsels Christians to carry burdens for each other; you can’t carry a stranger’s load. But a friend, you can come alongside of. When we lower the walls of self-preservation and allow others to speak into our lives in love, we find ourselves growing.
So, each Friday, we meet up in the basement of our church to share a meal, get to know each other, and have an intentional discussion on relevant issues or struggles we face. We sing together, pray together, share together, and are known together.
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
